Even after washing, some fruits and vegetables consistently carry much higher levels of pesticide residue than others. Below is a list of foods that should always be purchased organic because of the amount of pesticides used during conventional growth. These foods may cost up to 50 percent more, but are well worth the money.
Fruits:
• Apples, cherries, grapes, nectarines, peaches, pears, raspberries & strawberries
Vegetables:
• Celery, bell peppers, spinach & potatoes
Other organic foods worth considering: Milk, beef, & poultry.
They often cost up to 100 percent more than conventional products. But these foods contain NO hormones, and antibiotics.
No need to go organic with these foods because these products generally do not contain pesticide residue.
Fruits:
• Bananas, kiwi, mangoes, papaya & pineapple
Vegetables:
• Avocado, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, onions & peas
